Suffolk chocolatery & coffee house develops offer
Linton House has developed a new range of coffee as it looks to expand its three-pronged family-run business, which incorporates a café, chocolatery and training business in Suffolk.
Its Marimba World Chocolate business supplies 600 independent café operators with its range of fine chocolate goods, which it produces in its chocolate kitchen in Bury St Edmunds, and it is hoping the new Linton House Coffee range will gain traction among its chocolate buyers.
Brad Wright is one of five members of his family involved in the businesses – Linton House Coffee, Marimba World Chocolate and The Coco House café. The business began 12 years ago with the ‘Coco House’ café operation in Sudbury and six years ago, the Wrights began manufacturing their own chocolate flakes, melts and truffles and introduced their own brand of coffee, Linton House.
“We had a small chocolate kitchen and chocolatery shop in our café, but then we were approached by another business, which wanted to stock our chocolate in their café. It just all snowballed from there,” said Brad Wright, who works alongside mum Jackie, dad David and sisters Josiane and Katherine Robinson.
Linton House offers a choice of three coffees: Pickwick (80% Arabica from Brazil and Vietnam); Abbeygate (100% Arabica from Honduras and Sumatra); and King Edmund (100% Arabican from Honduras). Linton House donates a proportion of its price to support charities Coffee Kids and World Coffee Research.
This summer, Marimba World Chocolate opened a state-of-the-art training facility in Sudbury offering both chocolate courses and barista training, free to customers.
The Melt Master course covers everything about chocolate, from flavour profiles, origins, hot and cold varieties, menu development, milk alternatives and equipment care.
While the barista training covers coffee selection and tasting, grinder setting, espresso techniques, dairy, non-dairy and equipment care.
