Square Root opens first dry bar

Square Root Soda, producer of artisan sodas and scrubs, has opened its first ‘dry’ bar in collaboration with street food pioneer KERB, at it new Seven Dials Market in London’s West End, an all-day dining destination which began trading at the weekend (September 6-7).

The venture into bars is a first for Square Root, which has steadily been building a reputation and name for itself, producing a range of its own branded drinks and bespoke lines for restaurants and bars.

It recently expanded into a new production facility in Walthamstow, East London. Co-founder of Square Root Soda, Ed Taylor, told Beverage Business World: “We will now be able to wholesale and manufacturer all we need to for the first time, as previously we’ve not had the capacity to keep up with the organic sales demand.”

Taylor said it was too early to be drawn on whether other bars would follow, but added that the response to the opening had been “amazing so far”.

Square Root started trading six years ago having seen an opportunity for better quality soft drinks for pubs, explained Taylor.

Square Root was named the BBC Food & Farming Awards’ Best Drinks Producer in 2015.
