Top Hat from The GBs

The Gentlemen Baristas (The GBs) is launching its new season Top Hat coffee, sourced direct from Nicaragua thanks to a new direct trade deal, complete with accreditation from the Rainforest Alliance and roasted at its Shadwell roastery, which opened in January this year.

The roastery business is growing month-on-month, said co-founder Henry Ayers, who explained the roasting element of the business was gaining momentum as wholesale customers actively sought out high quality coffee produced by a smaller, independent roaster.

A completely new range of packaging from The GBs will be launched at the end of this month too (pictured).  

  • The GBs is set to open three new coffee shops in London this year: New Oxford Street, Victoria and Hammersmith, it is understood. This will increase The GBs coffee shop portfolio to 11 sites.

Frobisher's Spectacular Sparkler

Martin Frobisher’s is expanding its Spectacular Sparkler range with the launch of a delicately-flavoured Simply Elderflower presse.

This latest edition is lightly sparkling, made in Devon with natural spring water, low in sugar at just 65 calories per 330ml bottle.

Jessica Waller, head of brand at Martin Frobisher’s said: “We continue to support operators; helping with our Art of Tippling recipe booklet to build upon their soft drinks menus while boosting profits. Innovation with new flavour combinations continues and we will be focusing on further NPD over the coming year.”

Available from July, Simply Elderflower is the fifth flavour to join the Spectacular Sparkler range alongside Orange & Lemon, Raspberry & Grape, Apple, Pear & Elderflower and Ginger & Juniper.

Summer whole leaf tea from Eteaket

Eteaket, a Scottish independent whole leaf tea company based in Edinburgh, has launched its brand new limited edition summer blends – ‘Watermelon Burst’ and ‘Rhubarb Rocks, available now until August or while stocks last.

Watermelon Burst is a mix of melon, apple, aloe Vera, beetroot, kiwi and rose buds, while Rhubarb rocks is a blend of rhubarb, fennel, apple, strawberry leaves, rose petals and orange blossom. They can be served hot and also as a cold brew, iced tea or in cocktails.

Eteaket was founded by leaf tea expert Erica Moore in 2008.

Week Nite from Camden offers weaker alcohol solution

Camden Town Brewery says it's giving "our often neglected week-nights some love" by launching a brand new core range beer, which is more suited to dancing in the kitchen than an all-night rave.

Week Nite Any Day Lager is dry-hopped, unfiltered and 'full of flavour', and with a lower than normal 3% ABV is a perfect post-work alternative to higher ABV beers or alcohol-free options, it says.

Brewed with American Centennial and Cascade Hops the brewer describes it as being reminiscent of some of the first-wave US craft beers, along with Camden’s signature house pilsner malt, Week Niteis crisp, light and hoppy.

Summer botanical beers just 2.5% ABV

Lowlander Beer, botanical brewers from the Netherlands, is launching a range of Botanical Infusion beers in the UK for summer. 

With no artificial sugars, 82 calories in a bottle and just 2.5% ABV, the low alcohol botanical beers are being positioned as a "refreshing alternative to the usual adult no/lo drinks".    

Lowlander’s Infusions can be served as a long drink, garnished with fresh mint or pink grapefruit, it says.

The low alcohol range features flavours; Ginger & Kaffir Lime and Yuzu & Pink Grapefruit.

Loftbergs uses recycled PET for its Caffeine Water

Coffee roaster Lofbergs has begun using 25% recycled PET in its bottles for Caffeine Water, as part of its efforts to only use recycled or renewable material in its packaging by 2030.

Lofbergs Caffeine Water is a lightly carbonated energy drink made of spring water, caffeiene and natural fruit extracts, without added sugar or additives. Each bottle contains 150mg of natural caffeine, which corresponds to two cups of coffee.

The company explained that its commitment to using recycled PET in its bottles was in line with a new EU directive that aims at reducing plastic use and contains a legal requirement that PET bottles should consist of at least 25% recycled content from 2025.
