Novus Tea to launch nitro tea concept

Novus Tea is launching a new nitro tea concept for the out-of-home adult soft drinks market at the European Coffee, Tea & Soft Drinks Expo 2019.

The Nitro cold brew tea concept takes all the taste and health benefits of premium leaf teas and infusions, combines them with the naturally sweet, sugar-free advantages of cold brewing, and adds a nitro-infusion. Novus Nitro will initially be available with two of Novus’s most popular and refreshing cold brew flavours - Persian Pomegranate and Egyptian Mint.

Allan Pirret, sales director of Novus Tea, said: “It’s really important for operators to have an innovative and healthy range of premium soft drinks aimed at adults as the market is growing fast. Cold brew tea meets these criteria and is proving incredibly popular at the moment. The Nitro infusion introduces a creamy, viscous mouth-feel to the flavours of the tea, raising cold brew tea to an even higher level.”

Pirret added that the finished drink has a similar feel to a café latte.

The counter-top Nitro system needs just a 13-amp socket to operate. There are no bulky gas bottles to buy, store and replace. The system is available to buy outright or on a lease purchase basis

Novus Tea’s cold brew tea uses cold, rather than hot water for the infusion. Because cold brew tea uses cold water, the tea infuses more slowly over a longer time.

Nine Elms launches to UK market

London-based brand Nine Elms is to launch its first drink, ‘No.18’ into the UK market this April.  

The alcohol-free drink has been designed to match with food and according to its creators has “an intriguingly complex yet balanced taste profile”. It is derived from the botanical infusion of 20 different flowers, herbs and spices, and the juice of four types of berry.

Available in 75ml bottles, Nine Elms No.18 is being targeted at the restaurant, hotel, caterering and bar sectors to provide an alternative to those who choose not to drink alcohol or who are reducing their consumption. 

Simon Rucker, joint ceo of Nine Elms, said: “We believe Nine Elms bridges the divide between alcoholic and non-alcoholic products and for the first time offers a truly inclusive experience that brings people of all backgrounds and beliefs together.

“There is a huge gap in the market for high quality alcohol-free alternatives to the sorts of alcoholic drinks that are traditionally served with food and we believe that Nine Elms, starting with No.18, is the first to properly address this.”


Grab and go sparkling water boasts zero sugar

A new premium flavoured sparkling water has launched in the ‘grab and go’ market. Upstream boasts zero sugar, natural flavourings and is only three calories per can.  

The lightly sparkling water launched with three refreshing flavours: Grapefruit & Bergamot, Lime & Pomegranate and Cucumber & Mint, all of which will contain no preservatives, added sugar or artificial colours and come in a 330ml easy-to-recycle aluminium can format.

Ed Woolner from Upstream, said: “We wanted to create a zero sugar, low calorie flavoured water that didn’t compromise on quality and offered a daily dose of refreshment. 

“There are so many health-conscious consumers out there on the search for something different, presenting an opportunity for retailers to tap into the zero sugar and low-calorie trend to drive sales.”


Lost Coast targets out of home sector 

Lost Coast, the sparkling apple vinegar cider, is looking to target the out of home market.

The range was launched to target the increasing demand for consumers for wellness and health drinks.

The low calorie drink, which is available in 330ml bottle format in mango, turmeric and ginger; strawberry, hibiscus & rose and blueberry, elderberry & lemon already has distribution is retail at stores such as W H Smith, Ocado as well as UK wholesalers. In Summer 2019, it is set to launch in 250ml can format adding the lemon, chilli & lime variant.


Rejuvenation Water launches new sparkling water range

Rejuvenation Water has introduced a new range of plant-based protein/amino acid and electrolytes enriched sparkling waters. Containing botanical extracts, there are three flavours in the new hydration+ range - Cherry & Cranberry; Tropical; Lime & Lemon– all available in fully recyclable 250ml slimline cans. The drinks are all natural, low calorie (50 kcal or less), low sugar and vegan.

The unique formulation contained in the Rejuvenation Water hydration+ sparkling waters not only provide extra hydration from the electrolytes, but functional benefits too from the protein/amino acids which help to fuel the immune system, aid protein absorption and promote healthy cognitive function.

Rejuvenation Water hydration+ range is available from Suma Wholefoods, JD’s Foods and Costco.


Vieve launches protein water

Vieve has launched a new variant of protein water which contains no fat sugar, artificial colours or flavours.  The Watermelon variant joins its Strawberry & Rhubarb flavour, and Citrus flavour variants. Vieve is a naturally flavoured water infused with 20g of protein, and just 85 calories per bottle.

Vieve said it is the first high-protein drink in the world to use collagen as its primary protein source.
