Mobile coffee operator Coffee Blue plans 25 new franchisees a year

Coffee Blue, the mobile coffee operator, is looking to bring 25 new franchisees on board every year after signing up its first 10 this year.

Coffee Blue was founded in 2017 by co-directors Gareth Edwards and Colin Smith, both of whom owned the vehicle conversion company for refrigeration and catering transport called Vantastec.

They decided that mobile coffee was a “complete fit” with its parent company as it could price its vehicles and business model more competitively.

“We decided to franchise the brand and take the next steps into a market which the directors have the experience and passion to succeed in,” said Martin Jones, UK franchise manager.

Its first franchisee came on board in September 2018 in Harrogate, and now it has ten franchisees in place.

“We have very ambitious plans to bring 25 new franchisees on board next year and every year after that with the addition on 10 new franchisees this year. We want to be the best franchise in the UK and have plans to expand our brand across Europe and beyond with our multi-franchise agreement offer.”

As part of the franchise deal the company buys the vehicle on the customers behalf, then rents it back to them over a fixed term of up to five years. It said it sources its coffee from several UK roasters, which is a blend of five different beans from Africa, Brazil and India, and is 100% Arabica.

The franchise fees start from £13,950 and provides exclusive territory as well as barista training.
