Leeds coffee shop voted 11th best in the world

An independent coffee shop in Leeds has been voted the 11th best coffee shop in the world, according to travel site Big 7 Travel.

Mrs Atha’s in Leeds is described as an independent coffee shop that prides itself on “good produce.” It was voted into 11th place by its global community of readers, as well as contributions from the Big 7 Travel editorial team.

Other mentions included the Union Hand-Roasted Coffee owned venue Brew Lab in Edinburgh that came in at 23.

The Travel 7 website said: “Brew Lab feels more like a high end cocktail bar than a coffee shop, and we love the uniqueness of the place.”

While further down the list at 34 came Laboratorio Espresso in West Nile St. in Glasgow, Scotland. 

Travel 7 said the Glasgow coffee shop “often win awards for best coffee in the UK and even further afield. The owners are always on the lookout for great ideas to bring back to Glasgow to up their coffee game even further – one for the coffee aficionados.”

The winner of the best coffee shop in the world went to Simple Kaffa in Taipei, Taiwan, followed by The Barn Roastery in Berlin, Germany and then Mel Coffee Roasters, Osaka, Japan.
