Lavazza and PepsiCo: 'Expect more from us'
The news comes as the two companies unveiled a new partnership last week, where they launched Lavazza Iced Cappuccino in the UK.
Sergio Cravero, chief marketing officer of Lavazza Group, speaking to Beverage Business World said that the UK was the first to launch and would be extended across Europe. He said the two companies were in discussions about which RTD product would be released to the market next and admitted, “there are a lot of possibilities”.
“We will look to expand the range and across other markets in the coming months and years,” he said. "Next year we will be ready to enlarge our range of products."
Mark Kirkham, vice president and head of marketing, PepsiCo West Europe Beverages said to “expect more from us” and added: “We are really focusing on the consumer trends and the category trends to ensure that we are coming to market with a differentiated proposition.”
While the initial launch has been into the grocery sector with Sainsbury’s and Ocado, Kirkham said the further roll-out would be conducted “step by step”.
“We will look to expand away from home with some of our away from home partners,” he revealed.
“I think what is important is that we scale this in the right way and we build this across our key retail partners in the coming months.”
Cravero said the partnership and development, which had been ongoing for 15 months, was the “right combination”.
“From my side PepsiCo has a great competence in the beverage sector, great competence in operations, great competence in distribution and a great competence in marketing,” he said.
“On the other side Lavazza has a great competence in sourcing coffee, roasting coffee and in offering new products."
The Costa Coffee, available in three variants, Classic Latte, Caramel Latte and Black Americano.
