Kombucha 'on the cusp' of being mass market
Lo Bros Kombucha, the fermented health tea, has launched into the pub sector but claims that there are greater opportunities for the drink across the wider UK market.
The Australian brand, which launched into the UK earlier this year, has signed a deal to supply two pubs chains - 170 London pubs with Greene King and also Draft House, the 13-strong craft beer pub chain with sites in London.
Currently, Lo Bros Kombucha supplies hundreds of independent operators in the UK hospitality market. These include London venues such Genesis, Rola Wala, Hash_e8, and Smashing Kitchen.
Interest in healthier soft drinks is growing as more consumer focus on health and wellness. The Lo Bros Kombucha range of 300ml bottles contain less than 1g of sugar per 100ml, is vegan, gluten free and 100% natural.
Sales of Kombucha, the low sugar health 'tea', have exploded on the Australian market in the past two years, with sales increasing by 700% over the last two years, reports News.com.au.
Dom Dalton, general manager of Lo Bros, said: "We're witnessing kombucha grab the attention of consumers in multiple ways; in association with the health and well-being categories, and as a new non-alcoholic beverage that offers an undiscovered flavour profile.
“We’re still on the cusp of kombucha being readily available on mass, but there is, without doubt, a high level of interest in the market.”
Lo Bros Kombucha is one of the products sold by Soul Fresh, the UK arm of the Australian company.
The Signature Kombucha is available in five flavours; Original, Ginger & Lemon, Raspberry & Lemon, Passionfruit, and Apple.
Soul Fresh has also launched its Living Soft Drinks range which combine 'the hallmarks of a traditional craft soda with kombucha and apple cider vinegar'.
The 'living sodas' include a Cola, Lemon Fizz, Lemon, Lime & Bitters and a Ginger Beer.
The Apple Cider Vinegar Tonics (a drink produced using fermented Apple Cider Vinegar) are available in two flavours; Elderflower, Ginger & Turmeric
