200 Degrees opens 11th coffee shop

Speciality coffee roaster 200 Degrees is to open its 11th coffee shop in the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in the East Midlands in October.

The new 80-seater shop, which is 1,865 sq ft is located at Junction 28 of the M1 and will serve freshly roasted coffee sourced directly from the 200 Degrees roast house 30 minutes away in Nottingham.

The new shop will feature the spacious relaxed, modern decor that is distinctive to 200 Degrees with a coffee bar, fireplace snug area and a large area of outdoor seating. 

Tom Vincent, co-founder and director at 200 Degrees, said: “This is the first out of town location for us in the UK and we chose the East Midlands Designer Outlet as it’s a prominent, retail destination.”

200 Degrees, which was set up by Tom and his business partner Rob Darby in 2012, has the chain of independent coffee shops as well as its roast house near Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The company has further plans to grow, with a new shop planned for Manchester later this year.

 

Coffee sector signs declaration over current coffee crisis

Ceos, executives and global leaders in the coffee sector have signed a declaration at the International Coffee Organization (ICO) Forum to implement solutions to address the current coffee price crisis.

According to the ICO it is the first time that all leading coffee stakeholders, from all over the world, have agree to be together with Government representatives to show their commitment to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

The Forum is the response by Coffee industry executives and Leaders - mobilised by the International Coffee Organization (ICO) -  to the strong call by the Governments of exporting and importing countries to contribute to solving the the current price level, which has seen coffee prices drop by 30% over the last two years.

 

Teapigs celebrates 13th birthday

Teapigs is celebrating its 13thbirthday on 6th November with its 7th free tea day. Over 250 teapigs stockists will be taking part and giving away free tea at their cafes and delis in over 15 countries.

In the UK, teapigs will be “popping up” at various city locations handing out over 120,000 cups of tea.

Teapigs said the initiative gives operators an opportunity to upsell on the day. It is also asking everyone to get social on the day forget to be social @teapigs #teapigsfreeteaday.
