Gloria Jean's opens first UK site
Gloria Jean’s Coffees (GJC), the Australian coffee shop chain, has opened its first UK site in Sutton with Glasgow expected to open by the end of the year.
A spokeswoman said that the second site, which is set to open at the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow, is about to begin building and fit-out.
A spokeswoman told Beverage Business World: “The Master Franchise Partner who owns the two sites is also exploring further expansion opportunities across the UK.”
Gloria Jean’s confirmed to Beverage Business World earlier this year that that it will target London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Cardiff leveraging off locations with high footfall such as high streets, shopping centres, retail parks and travel hubs.
GJC said that the UK was an important strategic market for its Master Franchisor Retail Food Group, and a natural platform to plan further expansion into Europe.
GJC announced its plans to launch into the UK market in 2018 with plans for 190 sites. It has signed a franchise deal with Naweed Nasir, director of Green Valley Foods.
