Flat White voted Top for coffee in London

Antipodean-inspired Flat White Soho has been voted winner of the Top Coffee House London in this year’s London Restaurant Awards.

Harden’s Guides, organisers of the London Restaurant Awards, described Flat White as ‘the best place to get your caffeine kick in London’.

In a Tweet, Kaffeine London, which was one of the competition’s four cafes shortlisted, described Flat White as “legends and trailblazers from 2005. Huge inspiration to us and to many, many others. Well done guys.”

Bean & Wheat and Prufrock Coffee, along with Kaffeine, were also shortlisted for Top Coffee House London. The winner was announced by the BBC’s Nigel Barden at London’s Langham Hotel on Monday (September 10).

The Harden’s London Restaurant Awards comprises 13 categories, with nominees taken from those who performed best in the annual Harden’s restaurant survey. This year, more than 8,500 people contributed 50,000 reviews.

  • Flat White was established in September 2005 in Soho’s Berwick Street to ‘bring the refined artisan style coffee prevalent in Australian and New Zealand cafes to London’. In 2008 it opened a second café, Milkbar, on nearby Bateman Street.
