Dan Fellows is 'incredibly proud' to win World Coffee in Good Spirits title for second time

Dan Fellows, the head of wholesale at Origin Coffee, has told Beverage Business World he is “incredibly proud" to have been crowned the first ever two times winner of World Coffee in Good Spirits.

Fellows was given the top accolade this week after taking part in the competition for the second year running. He also won in 2018.

“I am incredibly proud to have won the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship for a second time," Fellows said.

“Many people asked me why I would compete again in a championship I won last year, and the truth is primarily that I genuinely massively enjoy every aspect of the competition and everything it entails. I had a routine and concepts that I was really proud of, and the risk of never presenting these was more than showcasing them but risking not retaining the crown.

“Fortunately, the judges seemed to enjoy the drinks and routine, and I am very privileged to become the first ever 2x World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion.”

Agnieszka Rojewska, World Barista Champion 2018, came in third place in her first year in the competition.

Both Fellows and Rojewska showcased at the Barista Masterclasses at European Coffee, Tea & Soft Drinks Expo last month.

Fellows began working for Origin Coffee as a barista in its Porthleven coffee shop ten years ago. He then became one of Origin’s barista trainers, before moving over to manage the wholesale side of the business alongside competing in various industry competitions, gaining his UK Barista Champion title in 2016.

Earlier this year, Fellows told Beverage Business World that the proudest moment of his career was winning the 2018 World Coffee In Good Spirits Championships.

Meanwhile on her facebook page Rojewska said it was “incredible” to be in the top three in her first year in this new category.

“Craziest month so far has ended with third place during World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship,’ she commented.

“It is one of the most enjoyable competitions so far for me.”
