Coca-Cola & Costa launch coffee RTD
Coca-Cola and Costa Coffee have announced the first major product launch, since the soft drinks’ giant acquisition of Costa six months ago – a chilled coffee in a can for the ready-to-drink market this summer – as Coca-Cola looks at making Costa the “world’s number one coffee business”.
The Costa Coffee ready-to-drink (RTD) launch, which is available in three variants – Classic Latte, Caramel Latte and Black Americano – is canned coffee brewed with Costa Coffee beans and designed for consumers looking for a genuine coffee hit from a chilled coffee.
It contains 30% less sugar than most other RTDs in Great Britain, said Costa Coffee, and is between 95-120 calories per 250ml can.
“The result provides consumers with an authentic coffee experience with a real caffeine hit, with each drink containing the equivalent of a double-shot of espresso,” said the release, issued on June 12.
Jennifer Mann, senior vice president and president of Global Ventures for Coca-Cola said: “This demonstrates the power of our partnership. It combines the marketing expertise, global scale and distribution credentials of the Coca-Cola system with Costa Coffee’s expertise and capabilities in coffee. The result is a fantastic tasting, ready-to-drink coffee.”

The Coca-Cola company added that this was the latest move and that the company would continue to expand the range of drinks and give consumers more choice.
